Just wondering if anybody can tell me what this used to be for. It is has been hacked out and i am just wondering if i should just leave it where it is or what I should do with it.

That box under the dash is the ECU/ECM - and all those wires were used to connect it to various sensors and actuators that are most likely no longer used (or even attached to ) the engine.

I think you will be fine if you want to remove the computer and strip the wiring. Your engine compartment will certainly look neater.

I cant believe someone would just cut the wires right there at the firewall that's a face palm if I ever saw one

as said above, old esc dist. computer very primitive, only controlled timing and such unless you had like an 86 with the carb that had idle control hookups or whatever it was.

I just emoved my old mans from his 84. I popped the boot out of the firewall and removed it all complete no hacked harness. I then ran his mech. gauges oil pressure line and water temp line thru that grommet.

I didnt think there would be anything electronically controlled on this truck.

If the plastic base that holds that computer is undamaged I will buy it from you. I need the plastic base that holds the computer as mine is cracked. Please PM me and let me know..
