A big hello to everyone on this forum. I've been looking for a place to swap info on these great trucks. Check out my photo album I uploaded of my truck.

got any more photos of your Camper Special?

Welcome from a fellow green Camper Special owner! She's a beauty!

Hi Green, Have you got any more photos of your Camper Special? Did yours ever carry a camper? I think part of the reason mine survived so well is that it had one on the back for most of it's life and it kept the bed very clean.

I do have a couple very handy actually! Oh yeah, it carried a camper quite a bit. Of the 100k miles that are on it now, my Dad and I figure at least 30k of those are with the camper on. The rig has been to many states, as far west as the Grand Canyon, and another country, Canada. It was only retired about five years ago because my parents bought a new 5th wheel travel trailer and "didn't trust" the old girl to go long distances. I happen to have had a truck that would pull the new trailer, so we simply traded trucks. It worked awesome because I didn't really drive my truck, an '05 Sierra, on a regular basis, and I really wanted the green truck because my dad had bought it new in '79! There's the story! I do have a build thread on this site that shows the little things I have done to it over the years. Here are some pictures for you also. The two with the steelies and hubcaps is it's current set-up, and the other is from when my dad still had it and was in the process of selling the camper. Enjoy!

Very Cool!

That is a very nice truck for sure. I tried to find a set of those steel wheels for mine when I got it because it had those awful wagon wheels from the 1980's on it but I had no luck. 16.5" 8-Lugs aren't too common I suppose. Was that the factory color and does it have a green interior to match? I think it's great that you have so much history with the truck. I love the shot with the camper on the back. Those were the days. Thanks for posting the pics!

Thanks for the compliments guys.

Yes it's the factory color, well, as close as they could match after a minor accident about 20 years ago. And yes, it does have a green interior! I love the green on green combo. My wheels are actually factory 16's, not 16.5's. The 16's should be found quite easily. When the funds allow it, I plan on going with wider steelies that still allow use of the hubcaps. I do like sharing pics of her!
