Installing Carpet

I have molded carpet, heat shield, and the sound deadener. Will someone take me start to finish on how to install it all properly?

Only tip I have is lay the carpet out in the driveway in the sun for a couple hours to limber it up, makes it easier to install. Installing one in the wintertime can be a bitch.

I guess you have already removed all the old stuff. The method depends on the manufaturer of the sound deadener and insulation. The factory put the deadener in first then the insulation. When I installed my I used a heat gun and started at the center of the firewall transmission hump junction working outward in both directions. Sorry I don't have any pictures of the install or I would put them up for you.

Lay and trim the carpet alone and let it conform to the floor for awhile - till it smooths out. It may take a couple of weeks or a month.

Then, fold it back and lay your heatbags and jute under it.

what i have done in the past is strip the interior out for example seat(s) and trim along the doors, remove old carpet and clean the floor up as best as you can get it,let the cappet sit in the sun for a hour so so like metioned above, then lay your sound deadnore and your heat sheld in center it up the best you can trimming the extra around the edges, then lay your carpet on top of it center it up the best you can, then you go under the truck with help from the wife or kids inside of it and use like a punch or screw driver and put it up throught where the seats and seat belts mount to find your holes you need to cut out then just mount everything back into your truck and your done it will take just about hour and a half for your frist time.

What actually holds the carpet in place? Just the trim and seatbelt holes, etc.? Or do you use a spray adhesive as well?

yes the trim and the seat mounts will hold it in place but i also use the 3m spray adhiesive for the area under the dash and the srea behind the seat hope my post help you out if you have anymore question just shoot me a email

This is kind of related, so I'll ask it here. You folks that have put in new carpet, what do you do with the back cab panel? Have you just used the cardboard tray and left the rest exposed like factory? If you have covered it with carpet, is there an easy way to trim it up nicely?

in the past i just used truck bed liner and pain ted it the same color as the interior never tryed to instal carpet or the carboard thing back in before the two i had before where so rough i just tossed it out.

Bucket, I did a 400 grit sand and preped the surface with denatured alchol. I sprayed 3M carpet adhesive to the surface and applied the carpet. I had a piece of trim from the rear of the headliner that I massaged a little and mounted it on the edge of the carpet just below the glass.
