So I was going through my photos and I saw this, which is in the corner of my shed I don't venture very far. I also found it next to a photo of a shift pattern that goes (4LO, N, 2HI, 4HI) in that order. It might not be the same transfer case because it was a huge dump of photos, but possibly.

My other truck has a transfer case with a shift lever that just contains a diagram of a truck chasis, which is incredibly unhelpful. The only thing I know for certain is the transfer case on my running square, which is 3/4 ton, is the NP205 because its manual hubs and is 2HI, 4HI, N, 4LO. The one without a shift indicator has manual locking hubs, but its half ton. Difference?

In that top photo, it looks like you have a whole 10 spline, figure 8 SM465/NP205 setup sitting there. Complete with front shaft and trans crossmember. Likely '80-'84 single cab, due to the rear slip yoke. Or '80 K5 or Suburban.

The t-case shifter is sort of dependent on the model year. The knobs with that diagram would have the indicator plate screwed down with the boot bezel.

What does the slip yolk do? And 10 spline, figure 8, does that indicate it works with only a certain setup or is that a good/bad thing?
Heres the transfer case of the unknown shifter

"Figure 8" is the mounting bolt pattern where the adapter bolts to the transfer case. Starting in '85, the 205 got the "round pattern" adapter.

A figure 8 style np205 used in a GM application would have a male 10 spline input, a male 27 spline, or a female 32 spline input. 10 spline was used with the sm465, 27 spline was used with the TH350 and the 32 spline was used with the th400.

I'll also add that if you find a round pattern 32 spline female input NP205, it's rare and worth BIG bucks(relatively). They weren't offered in many combinations and make a super easy swap onto a 4L80e. The only thing that is maybe more rare would be the passenger drop NP241C with the 32 spline female input that was even more rare and again is an easy swap to a 4L80e in older squares.

My 80 K25 has a 350/TH400/205 and uses the figure 8 pattern. To swap my current transfer case to the 454/4L80e i'm putting together now, I have to put a 2wd output shaft in the 4L80e and have the indexing ring on the figure 8 adapter machined to a smaller diameter. It's not terrible, but it would be way easier to just a transfer case that would bolt right up. Which is why they sell for $600 or more in some places

Two different front outputs on the racetrack 205 too. Early had a yoke on the front output. Later had a flange. I think the changeover was around 78 maybe.

And I just figured out I have a T10 on my floor. T10 dont seem to have come in anything but RWD applications. Are they HD enough for a truck or you guys think not? I dont feel this warrants another thread

T-10 was a car transmission and very desirable. They will work in a pickumup application, especially a drag race application. LOL
