Aftermarket grills do not have provisions for a stock bow tie.

You will need a factory grill to use that emblem. It looks like the emblem that was on a 67-72 C10.

you will need a 73-79 factory grill like this. https://www.google.com/url?sa=i&rct...qNScvLl-3RP6GNBv68vumyuw&ust=1475872138272635

I used the 67-72 emblem on my grill like you are trying to do.

It's the correct grille and emblem, year-wise (1979), I just didn't realize i couldn't use the emblem with the aftermarket grille. I've got a couple ideas on how to make it work though

Love that blue bowtie btw

Thanks, its hard to see your grill behind your hand. there is supposed to be an outline for the bowtie where you would mount it, Originally a foil sticker was in place of where mine is now. Apparently aftermarket doesn't come that way from what i t looks like.

Looks great! Is this a company secret, or would you be interested in divulging your methods?

I was gonna suggest using longer threaded studs and expansion anchors used in drywall.

lol i should have taken a pic before i installed it, but all i did was cut to length a piece of flat 1" aluminum i had laying around, drilled two holes in it so i could mount the emblem to it. then i was able to use 4 zip ties, two on each side of the vertical and horizontal grille parts, to center it and hold it tight. it's on there pretty good.

Ahhh yes...zipties. I always have a large assortment of them in my toolbox along with duct tape and stainless steel safety lock wire.
