I've already gotten some great information and help from this site, but I figured I'd formally introduce myself. I've owned several GM vehicles over the years (currently also have 1980 Caprice 2 door Landau - in the paint shop), but this is my first pick-up, 1979 Bonanza SWB.
I searched broadly for a couple of months, but eventually narrowed my scope to a 2 tone late 70s SWB. Once I saw this one, the others in my budget just couldn't compare. I've never before bought a vehicle that was modified by a previous owner, I prefer to do this stuff myself and to my liking, but after doing some research and talking with the previous owner, I felt comfortable moving forward.
This C10 was born in California, and lived there most it's life until a custom truck shop owner in Ohio bought it and modified it to become his daily driver. It has a decent 30-footer repaint with a few dents and dings which don't bother me, no rust. The drop was done correctly, spindles and springs, flip kit and c-notch. It sits perfectly on the 20" color matched Detroit Steel Wheels on 35 series tires. Interior is clean and appears mostly stock, possibly original, besides the CD player. Original 350 under the hood, runs and drives good after clearing up an initial fuel issue.
I'm currently rehabbing the A/C system. My only other plans at this time are putting a stock grille back in place of the billet grille.
Here's a couple pics from a car show today. Any other Atlanta guys on here? It would be great to connect with some locals.
