Grille Replacement

Was wondering if anybody could tell me if the grille from a 73-74 Will fit in my 79? I was looking at the LMC replacement grilles and the early ones are the only ones that have an emblem on the front.

If you are talking about this, read the text carefully:

The way I read it, there might be a couple of things that are misleading:

1. The outline of the emblem only shows where it would go - if you had one

2. Maybe more importantly, they don't even sell the grille - just the H/L bezels and grille mounting hardware.


The above also applies to the 73-78 GMC version.

I just remembered that I have a nice aftermarket grille that fits 77-79 (also 76 & 80 with minor modifications). Granted it is repro, but it was made in the USA back in the early 80's. It is pretty nice looking and real rugged. You can have it for $30 + freight. But, be aware that it will not accept an emblem. Have a look below. (Sorry about it being upside down):

Yes it will fit, you must change the mounting brackets for it, add two outside by the headlights and the hood latch though. I have a 73/4 grill in my 78.

I wonder why the grille is no longer shown as available? They just started reproducing those a couple years ago. Now they are gone?

Thanks guys! I'm going to order the 74' grill for it then. I just want it to still have the bowtie.
