Sorry if this has been posted elsewhere, but I didn't find anything specific. What is everyone using to bolt new fuel straps to the brackets? Originally, they are in there with some rivets that I had to grind out. Just any 3 bolts that fit? Or something in particular?

Thanks

I ran into the same issue... not realizing even new straps need to secure to that bracket. I believe new brackets come with hardware, but if its not broke why replace it. I used 3 tiny bolts, and just made sure the side to the frame had the bolt heads.. I think. I cnt really picture where the three lined up but I just used 6 small bolts from my hardware drawer and used lock washers and blue locktite

EDIT: 3 bolts per strap, 6 per tank.

Well I’m 95% certain there wasn’t any hardware that came with the straps, and I’m just using the original brackets. My plan was to use 6 small bolts like you described...I just wanted to make sure I wasn’t overlooking something.

I used 3, 3/8" rivets and peened them over like the originals. Check your hardware or fastener store.

that would be ideal if you have a rivet gun and rivets. Is there any advantage to using rivets? Ive never used a rivet in my life, although I own thousands of them.

I don't mean pop rivets...

Solid rivets like this.

Cut to length, then use a ball peen hammer to mushroom the end. No rivet gun needed.

THATS WHAT THOSE ARE FOR? Wow I have hundreds of those, too. And ball peen hammers. The more you learn

I used a 6mm bolt, 12mm long with nylon nut to secure the straps.
