in tank fuel pump or external fuel pump? just dropped in a 454 with no fuel pump set up on the block since it was originally TBI. truck is an 86 short bed gmc. question is do i set it up with a inline fuel pump or put in an electric in tank pump? basically which set up is better? its not a worked motor just rebuilt, 750cfm carb, pavement pounder. any help on this topic would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

I am no expert on this
That being said I have ran Holley electric fuel pump
on my big blocks from my hot rod go fast motors to my motorhome
I installed them on the inside frame rail back by the tank
and depending on what pump you get and what carburetor you are using
you may need to use a fuel pressure regulator

If the truck was originally TBI, then is the original fuel pump still in the tank?

original set up in an 86 is carburated. old motor had the fuel pump on the block. new motor is a gen 6 454 big block, no fuel pump set up on the block. considered running a frame rail pump just near the tank and enough pressure to get up to the carb with correct fuel amount supply.

if you are running a carb I would use a mechanical pump. highdesertranger

Do you regulate and send rest back through regulator?

Here is what I used on my 75 chev truck with dual tanks

Or you can use the Holley Carburetor Bypass Style Fuel Pressure Regulators 12-803BP

my other 2 ( motorhome and stepside ) have single tanks with no return
