I think I read somewhere that anything over 50 miles pull the driveshaft, but I can't be certain of that. Even if I knew the trans would be fine, its only a few bolts to disconnect the shaft from the diff then just tie it up to the frame, for the front just make sure the hubs are unlocked. Better safe then sorry, just my opinion. Did you buy the cucv from gov liquidation website? Drmo sites like to move the old trucks around with forklifts and are notorious for bent driveshafts anyways.

You can put a rubber glove over the end and secure it with a stretch band and tape. The kind used for washing dishes works fine.

Take loose the driveshaft from the rear end and use some bailing wire to tie it up against the underside of the bed, that way your slip yoke stays in the trans. Just make sure you have it tied up good.

What kind of cucv is it? The pickups have 14 bolt with lockers in the back and a Dana 60 in the front. The 6.2 diesel isn't the fastest or most powerful motor but they are dang tough. Back when I was stationed in Louisiana we had one that threw a rod through the side of the block. I started it up just to see if it would, it did and I drove it the 6 miles back to the motorpool

Steel soldiers is a great military squarebody specific site and they have all of the tm's for your truck.

I have done this many times towing over 200 miles with a tow bar and never had a drive train issue. IMO that would be fine.

Why even worry about the reg and stuff just hav a current bill of sale or the signed title and drive it. Most states give you that little bit or wiggle room to be able to get the vehicle home with it just being bought. I drove my chevy through three states with no tag or insurance the night i got it to get it home and had no issues in Kansas, Oklahoma and Arkansas.

Yes, but with money as funny as it is for most, an the issues that I have had, got me a little gun shy. And being a veteran Tow Operator, its worth the extra 5 minutes per driveline, just to avoid any potential headachs. That Murphy guy follows us Tow Ops around all the time.
