My suburban has developed a bit of an exhaust leak. The muffler has a rust tear in it now, I am going to have custom exhaust done in the spring, but I don’t want to do it before the winter so I am looking to put a cheap muffler in there for temporary. Does anyone know the stock pipe size for a 1991 suburban with a K code 350? It looks like 3” OD to me. I need to know that so I can go to the parts store and find a muffler that will fit when I cut the old one out.

Thanks,

~HJ

Get under the truck and use a pair of calipers to measure the OD of the pipes leading into and out of the muffler.

Also take pictures (or make a dwg) of the index angle of both the in and out nipples. They make a huge difference when replacing a muffler.

I changed my mind, I am going to just get the exhaust done professionally. No Cats, Magnaflow and dual tips out the back.
