Do the 56" springs ride better than the 52" leaf springs?

Hi All,

I see from time to time that people are saying the 56" leafs ride better than the 52" leaf spring packs. I see the reasoning, a longer leaf so it can flex more. But my thoughts are that a 56" spring would be a lot stiffer, since they are rated for much higher loads.

Any thoughts on this?

I swapped out 5-leaf 52's with a set of 8 leaf 56's that I pulled from a 1-ton pickup. The ride with the higher rated 56's was the same if not ever so slightly improved. And the amount of flex they provide is awesome.

Sounds good. Kind of goes against logic for a stiffer spring to ride better, but I heard it before from others so it must have some truth to it.

my 85 low rider has 56'' springs it rides worse than the 52'' ones did on its old chassis.

I done a frame swap on it

it use to have 52'' springs with drop brackets and shackles to drop the rear it rode awesome I loved it

the new chassis has 56'' springs and an axle flip and the shock brackets dropped 4''

it rides harder than it did before with the drop brackets and shackles

I am not sure its the springs it might be the difference in the shocks or something with the axle flip causing it to ride worse

the pic with the baby blue bed has the 52'' springs and drop brackets and shackles the other pic is the 56'' and axle flip
