Decided to put in a new thermostat, and got a surprise.

I bought my truck a couple weeks ago, so I figured I would put in a new thermostat and gasket as preventive maintenance, and drain and flush the coolant. You can imagine my surprise when I discovered no thermostat was installed!

Let's just say my heater gets hotter now, and in general the truck seems more happy.

Some of these previous owners should be sentenced to firing squad

Glad you found out before it actually got cold.
Previous owners can be such a pain. I had a truck where the trailer wiring was all jacked up. Took me a full 12 hours to get it all straightened out because I had to trace each of the wires from front to rear.
