Ok guys so im about to go through my dana 44 i got sitting and put new seals and clean it up so i can put it in my truck.. My question is how many seals are there? I need to know because im gonna buy all the seals tomorrow and want to make sure i got them all..

I'm assuming your d44 is a front axle. The only easy seals to change are the grease seals on the backside of the hubs. The axle shaft seals are in the center chunk, you have to remove the carrier to replace them. Then there's the pinion seal too.

Update? The correct way to change the pinion seal is to yank the pinion out and change the crush sleeve then put it all back together with a new nut and, using a torque multiplier, tighten the bloody piss out of the nut until the correct pinion depth is achieved assuming that the bearings are in good shape.... but I've never done that unless changing gears.
