changing engine mountes in truck?

I know i should of replaced my motor mounts before i installed engine i forgot lol i was to excited to get it to run haha anyways..

can i change them in the truck or do i have to remove the engine? can i use a jack due to not having a cherry picker??

Get a piece of wood and jack up the engine by the harmonic balancer or somewhere on the oil pan. You can do it with the engine in.

or hook the cherry picker or whatever you used to pull/put in the motor.

If the mounts are still in decent shape, just leave them be.

I would jack it up at the oil pan, not the harmonic balancer. Just my $0.02

Be sure to use a block of wood or something between the jack and the oil pan to distribute the weight and not dent the oil pan.

guys if he has or had a way to put the engine in why not use it? like a cherry picker, no worry on dented pans or damaged dampers.

I agree cherry picker would be the preferred solution but he states in the original post he doesn't have access to a cherry picker now.

But yes use a block or brick under the oil pan and raise it up.
