this engine willbe going in my 1988 k1500.
i will be using the tbi setup.the list

1996 block(not decked)
np345 .030 pistons(already in it before i got it.)
stock rods
stock crank
hv oil pump
ramjet 350 cam
193 swirl ports 65cc chambers(just want stupid tq numbers)

what do you tink of it as a good pulling truck build. also. what head gaskets should i use? I keep hearing the 345np's have a 1.54 pin height and i should look into fel-pro 1094's.

what compression would i be looking as with 1094's (.015) vs a standard .039 or .043 gasket?

Unless you get the block and heads surfaced. Don't go with the shim gaskets. Any imperfections are going to be found and you will then have a leak. I currently have them in my monte. But my surfaces were flat(feeler Guage) pretty sure it was previously surfaced. And my heads were surfaced.

And for a CR number. I need the measurement from the piston surface to the deck. Anything over .040 on a performance oriented engine is excessive.

well,i dont have any real way to measure it. but by finger its a bit more than a finger nail worth.lol only way i got to measure something that small. iv found that the average human finger nail is .016" thick.

but im pretty sure anything is better than the stock quench.
im looking to stay between 9-9.5:1 .any more than that and i have to scrap the previous owners short block idea, and start over.

The average human hair is .003. And that's more than enough to leak past the gasket.

Let's say your deck height is .030. With a .030 gasket it puts your compression around 9.5

Well, worst case they could be .045 in the hole plus a .030 gasket ,what would that put my compression?

I found a .028 graphite core coated gasket. Would it be OK?

OK.it will be from 9.2-9.5:1 depending on the gasket I choose. Over all, what do y'all think of the build.

You'll have grunt. But 193's have no top end capability. They were designed for torque only. So if that's the intent, it sounds like a good plan.

yeah. i want stump pulliing low end with ease of maintainence and a light improvement in fuel economy.
will be getting new "z28" valve springs, retainers seals and some new rocker arms. will be reusing th pushrods since they show no real sign of bending or odd wear. dont know if im gonna use the hv oil pump or if im gonna get a std volume, high pressure pump. gonnaget a new hardend dizzy gear and fining buttoning it up. already have a rebuilt tranny going in it.
