Anyone have a reason why I should leave the air pump on my 73?

73 is awful early to even have one. If you ditch it, take care to remove EVERYTHING associated with the system, believe me you don't want to be wondering what all those extra lines are for later

That's my very first mod to anything I buy with a smog pump. My Burb made it about 15 minutes before I cut the smog pump belt off.

I've heard of people gutting the fins off the pump and making it "look" functional just to pass tough smog laws. From what I understand a well-tuned setup that doesn't have all that garb on it is just as efficient as one that does.

it'd be nice if you can turn the thing into a pump for vac. brakes if you have a large cam or something and need more vacuum.

I think it does higher volume instead of pressure, not sure how useful it would be for anything other than inflating air matresses.

when i put headers on my 88 i removed all the lines and busted the fins out of my pump, belt was brand new so i didn't want to waste the money to buy another one to out right delete the pump, take the fins out it becomes a big ugly idler pulley
