Throttle body? Or port injection? We did a couple of throttle body injection conversions at work we did a 427 in an impala and we put the FAST system on it and it was self learning. Then we did a wagoneer I think we used the edle Brock system I don't remember if it was self learning though

Guy at work put an Edelbrock unit on his 401 powered Jeep. He got the version that controls ignition too. He absolutely loves it! He runs his Jeep up in the dunes so it is great for sidehill situations, and he says he notices the throttle response is a little better and it doesn't have the rich running gas smell his carb had. And his carb was dialed in pretty good. Someday I plan on putting an EFI system on my truck. Right now I would go with the Holley MPFI Dominator system as it also has ignition and transmission capoability.

From what I have heard, you really can't go wrong with any of the systems. Just do your research as there are different levels of capability, and you want to make sure you get one that will do everything you expect it to do.

Not sure if I would go with the TBI or port injection. I'm working toward making my 86 a daily driver for my 70 mile round trip. My plan is to rebuild the suspension and then install a TKO transmission and maybe then the fuel injection. I thought about the 5.3 engine swap but my current engine runs so good I hate to pull it out.

Personally, I would go right to the port injection. If you were going with TBI, you could put together a used GM system for way cheaper than a new aftermarket system. I am thinking of gathering some TBI pieces to put on my '79.

Port injection is better for economy and some power gains also but you have to buy a new intake and basically new fuel system plus or minus a couple of parts ha
