I am a super noob to all things mechanical but I would like to learn.
I just ordered a tool set and repair manuals but was hoping to get some advice on how to fix the thermostat.
The mechanic said the housing was fine but the gasket need to be replaced. Does that mean the actual thermostat needs to be replaced too? What tools will I need? Any suggests resources? I found this video... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hhIZAdZYCqg
The gauge in the cab doesn't move from the cold line. Not sure if this means its actually cold or the gauge is broken.
I am looking on rockauto and there are tons of thermostats, sender/sensors, and gaskets to choose from. How do I know which ones to pick? I am in Southern California desert.
The hoses need to be replaced. I am guessing I should do these at the same time.
Thanks for you help. Here is a picture... http://i.imgur.com/RL5mSZ0.jpg
