What are these sleeves? This head has been replaced at some point. When i pulled the valve covers, one of the pushrods was out of its home in the rocker too. Doesnt look bent. Lifter looks ok. Wtf?

Wow. That exhaust valve must have been really hot!
And lean.
Did you just save yourself a rebuild!?

I am not familiar with those sleeves...but they suck. The spring seat was relieved? That would inhibit oil flow? Which serves to cool?
Is the white valve head the same one with the sleeves?
I bet it is.
AND!
Omfg @ orange silicon to seal a valve cover. RUNNNN!
YEAH. That worked great i'm sure...no tellin what other corners were cut. Better rebuild it!

You see that valve has no keeper on it.. it didn't work..that's prolly the white one.
It will run a lot better with a quality head service. Too bad you didn't look into it deep enough to figure that out before pulling the motor but, whatever.

The white valve is the head with those **** sleeves on it.

The valve tip is from the other head. The keepers are in there. It just looks like the rocker wore the tip of the valve stem off.

It ran, but shi**y. I was just gonna inspect and reseal the ****. But i need too look deeper.

The valves have hit the pistons on the right bank at some time, that could explain the replaced head.

Daaannggg!

That is almost a hole in the piston dude. It's not reuseable.
A rebuild is certain.

Im looking at machine shops in my area on the interweb meow.

Weve reused pistons in neons with waay worse gouges from when timing belts snapped and bent all the valves.

But i agree, it needs new ones. It needs more compression too.

Yeah sure you could re-use it, but there's no reason to.
I wouldn't put that in MY truck and since that's the case, I wouldn't sell you the repair that contained that piston because i'm only going to fix it once. ;)

That little ding isn’t gonna hurt anything. Smooth it out so it’s not a hot spot. I hope you’s aren’t taking about the deeper one. Lol that kinda has to be there. The canted valve thing and all. Lol
