Does anyone know where I can find the big part new that is not darkened? It's the plastic box that mounts to the firewall

Somebody here might have one laying around to sell or a junkyard. I don't recall seeing them being sold new but I never searched it though....

I can't find them new. That would be cool if someone had a decent one to sell. Some I seen at junk yards, the inside parts were rusted etc

What is wrong with yours? Cracked? Did you pull it out already? Can't patch it up?

I got to work on mine soon, it's ready to fall off the firewall. If you dig into that please take pics and show or describe bolt locations. :(

Yep. It's hanging in by 1 bolt lol. I may be able to repair it. But I'd love to find a new one. Mine also has run in it. And I'd be worried after I did all the work that the doors and springs still wouldn't work properly. It looks like it will be a pain to remove

Yeah I am not looking forward to it either. I will share what info I can when I do. I got to get it done before the real cold weather shows up. Hopefully by Thanksgiving.

Aledo Texas?

Guy in Covington is parting out an 83 Chevy truck - looks like the climate control system is all there:

http://dallas.craigslist.org/sdf/pts/3261086917.html

He only wants $900 for the complete truck. He'd probably take $40 for the entire climate control system.

Man - I'll tell you, when I look at GMC/Chevy OSB listings for C/L in the southern/western states it makes me sick! There are sooo many trucks (and parts) in beautiful condition. There are precious few left in the northeast due to rust.

Check this out. This would be the way to go. It's a better all around set up

Sure if you can afford it. My Dad had one in his '69 GMC C-20.

I'm just need to weed out the rest of the a/c stuff under mine and seal the boxes and ducting where the leaks are and I should be golden. I noticed last night I must have bumped my heater cable when I was fooling around with the computer so now the heat setting only slides half way over. :shitsweak:
