700r4 cross member spacers

    Ok, so I had to drop my transmission to send it off to be rebuilt and swapped to a new case because the old case was cracked. When i went to pull the cross member I noticed that the bolts had spacers on them, but they were not between the cross member and the frame rails. The cross member was tight up to the frame rail. Is that right? It doesn't seem like it would be right. Why would they have spacers there if they weren't supposed to be between the cross member and the frame rail? When I installed the transmission and cross member I put the spacers back where I thought they should be, in between the cross member and they frame. I'm hoping this is right.

    I had the same deal, spacers were on top. couldn't figure out why. When I put on my 6" lift, I installed the transfer case lowering blocks, I probably could have used the spacers it had, but decided against it.

    It is correct. The spacers DON'T go between the crossmember and the frame rail.

    Ok, next question, am I hurting anything by having the spacers between the cross member and the frame? As far as I can tell all it did was decrease the angle on the driveshaft and that's generally a good thing right?

    If I gotta swap them back the way they were then oh well it will only take 5 minutes, but if I can I'd like to leave it the way it is.

    I'm not 100% sure on this but less angle in the drive line equates to more power at the back wheels right?

    The spacers are to drop the case when you add a lift. It wont hurt to have them where they are. Although, those factory spacers are cheesy. Best to get some thicker ones
