4.3L Oil Pumps

Good buddy of mine is trying swap out a new oil pump on a 4.3L (1990-91 iirc)......PN 12555281. He bought a high volume pump and its too tall - wont fit.

Are the oil pans different for a HV pump? THX

GM pump I assume? My guess would be that the HV pump was designed for a marine application with a deeper pan. Can the pickups be swapped? Or is the pump housing itself taller?

Dunno. He's 76 and still likes to wrench. I think he wanted a HV just for overkill. lol

He said its about 1/2" from fitting. TBH, for what he does with it, a stock replacement would be fine.

The HV pump body is about 1/2" taller, so would need a deeper pan. He said he was having a hard time finding a stock replacement (?!) - my guess is he wants OE. From what I saw on Rock it looked like the 5.7 pump was the same - which wouldn't surprise me either.
