I just talked to my parts man, he will have the kit for me after lunch. In the mean time I will take the rest apart and clean it and fix that alternator wire. I'll post the alternator pics in that other thread. A big thanks again to Skysurfer for the info.

I got to dig out the torpedo heater and set that sumbitch up next to the truck. ;)

Skysurfer, I see some kind of white sealant on top where that o-ring sits, did you use sealer to put it back together?

Some kind of white sealant on the upper o-ring flange, should I use sealant for this on the install???

Cleaned mating surface of block and oil line nipples.

2 more shots of diverter. Is that a relief vale in the middle where that spring is? Note broken gasket piece at bolt hole.

Cleaned up the diverter the best I could, and looked for any hidden particulates in the ports. Parts man just called and said the parts arrived. Gonna run down and get them and grab some lunch, be back in a bit.

Trivia, what trans is this?

Underneath of truck is covered with oil all the way to the rear bumper. That's the redneck way of a chasis lube. :)

Name that transfer case....

The trans looks to be a TH400. Is that right?

haha!! I thought you were starting a game of "stump the chumps" or something :D I'm pretty sure it's a TH400 but I'm sure HRPC or Retro will chime in with the for sure answers on both that and the T-Case :)

I guess I am just going to put the oring in with some grease, I don't see why I should put sealer on it. I asked a mechanic next to the parts shop and he said I shouldn;t need it. I hope not.....

You have a 700r4 as it's a 4 speed and the pan is square. Turbo 400s are 3 speed and the pan is oblong.

Thanks Retro.

Ok, here's the kit that Skysurfer mentioned. Came with an extra 2 o-rings and a gasket I guess that are for other vehicles.

I used Syl-Glyde grease to hold the o-ring in place...

The gasket for the top I slapped a dab of grease on and stuck it up in the block, because it kept falling off trying to manuver the oil tubes into the fittings on the diverter. You can also see the new oil tube o-rings installed. Just coated those nipples with oil that was dripping out of the tube into my eyes to help the new o-rings slide right on.

Here is the diverter test fitted.

Here is everything bolted and screwed togehter.

New filter and oil. Filled the new filter with a quart of oil and lubed the sealing ring.

looks like a newer np241 t-case same as my 88 k1500 truck but on them it's ds drop and the squarebodies had some ps drops which are a nice way to do an all chevy solid axle swap on the IFS trucks. That way you can use the ps pumpkin front diffs and the ps drop t-case. if it aint a 241 it's a 208, but I'd bet on a 241.
