I just got a 87 tbi 305. I want to install a 350 carb motor that i have. Will i have any problems with the 700r4 in it? I want to put a 2800 stall converter in it. Will there be any problems with it? I keep hearing lock up. What does that involve? I have never messed with a 700r4 it has always been turbo 350 for me.

So the computer will take care of the lock up even with switching to a stall convertor? Does the trans need a vacuum line or any special wiring? Sorry for questions it is a brand new trans dont want to mess it up.

Save yourself some trouble, install the TBI, put in 350 injectors, and get an ecm chip for a 350, and be done with it. With the reliability of TBI, and your truck and trans already set up to run it, it would not be a very smart move to put the carb on....not to mention, all the wires hanging around afterwards, and having to install a lockup kit on your transmission.

I agree with jim. you still can put in a 2,800 stall lock converter. Tbi is the way to go if you have it already stick with it.You can get a 350 chip and your good to go.
