Okay, need some advice. Have a 4" spring lift installed. Can't decide on tires. The 295/75/16's are showing a height of 33.4" and the 315/75/16's are 34.6". I have found some pics of a 4" lift and 315's, but not 295's.

My truck will be set up as more of an expedition truck, not a rock crawler. Maybe some camping in the desert with some light 4wheeling. I have a Toyota for nasty stuff, lol.

Does anyone know of any pics with 295's installed with a 4" lift? I've tried the search function, but it doesn't seem to like numbers and symbols.

Here's some pics...

My truck with a 4" lift and worn out 33's... and a 4" lift with 315/75/16

Thanks...

295/75 isn't common. But 285/75 and 305/70 are common sizes.

I ran the 305's for a long time with a 4 inch lift, I thought it looked good. With the BDS springs it flexed really well, and when pushed hard, the fronts could make contact with the fenders. With mild use, you should be good with the 315's and just a little bit of fender trimming.

I have been able to find the 295's in a few brands, they are a tall/thin looking tire which is what I like. The 305's are actually a 32.8 tire and a bit wider which is similar to the wore out 33's in the pic. I've been leaning towards the 295 until I saw the pic of the 315's.

The difference from a 305 to 315 is a 32.8' to a 34.6", big difference. The 295's are right in the middle at 33.4".

What gear ratio are your axles and what speeds do you like to cruise at?

They will be 4.11, right now they r 3.73 I believe. I may go with 4.56 with 315's. Also, I'm at 5000' elevation so I lose a little power there also.

I do a lot of slow driving. Occasional trip to the desert but that will be the exception.

I'd go with the shorter tire if I were keeping the 3.73 gears. 4.10 and 35" tires is a good compromise for a non-overdrive trans. That's the combo I've been running for 15 years and like it. Accelerates at a decent pace from a stop and easy cruising rpm at 65 which is about as fast as I ever go.

What power are you running? I was thinking 4:56 with 35's. Right now I have a 350/TH350. Soon to be a big block.

Yes, you may have found a few. But there are dozens and dozens of 285's and 305's. Also, tires vary in size by brand. My 305's were like 33.2 or something when new.

All I'm saying is that by changing the size ever so slightly, you can get EXACTLY the tire brand and type that fits your needs. IMHO, if you want the bigger tire, go with the 315. If you want the shorter tire and like them skinny, go with the 285. If you want just a little more meat, but same height, go with the 305.

Think the 315's are the way to go for me. Aside from different brand characteristics, the 305 and the 285 are both 32.8. I don't want to be smaller than 33, that was why the 295 seemed like a good fit. But, I found this pic on another forum and it's exactly what I'm looking for. 4" lift with 315/75/16's. Other than the squat in the back I like the taller tires for ground clearance.

The 315's do look good.

But since you kinda sorta brought it up, I just want to point out one more thing. Even though those other two sizes might be slightly less than 33" in diameter, there's an awful lot of "33x12.5" sizes that measure down around 32".

Yep, the one's on my truck are 33x12.50's that measure just over 31" now. They are wore out but, yes, some manufactures fudge their numbers a bit.
