Hi thanks for the site this is my first post. I have a 1987 C10 with a 350 and I just took the engine out to clean and paint it and the engine compartment before it goes to paint. It was running fine when I removed it and I had it running after I put it back in. I was setting the timing and I was moving the dist cap and it stalled and I can not get it to run again. After it stalled it had a code of 42 so I put a new ignition module on it and nothing. I have checked and rechecked the firing order and it is all correct. I am getting spark to the plugs and I check the pickup coil and it is good 861 ohms. I don't know of anything else it could be it just cranks and doesn't even try to fire. I even rechecked to see if I was a TDC several times and it is.

I only have a couple thoughts. The module connectors get brittle and fall apart, could be a bad connection or maybe a couple wires got switched? Also, I've seen faulty modules right out of the box.

Try going straight to 12v on the positive terminal on the coil

Run a wire from the positive battery terminal to the positive terminal on your distributor.

Would the module make not fire at all but give me spark at the plug?

Thanks
Bill

Hmmmm good one. If you have gas spark is your next culprit. Try going straight to the battery and see what that does.

Well I had a brain fart and forgot about that part. Maybe try disconnecting the tan/black timing wire on the firewall and rotate the dizzy until it hopefully fires up? Plugs get fouled somehow? Other than that, I'm stumped.

Oh, do your injectors have a good spray pattern?

Spark plugs look ok and I will have to check on the spray pattern I know there is gas going through the injectors but I don't know if it has a spray or it is just dripping I will look in the morning.

Thanks
Bill
