I currently have a 1981 k10 with a th350 and an np208 and am swapping it for an sm465 and an np205. I have now gotten to the point where I need a different rear driveshaft and my transfer case is set up to have a driveshaft with a slip yoke within the driveshaft but I’m not sure if I need a driveshaft with a carrier bearing or not. The measurement form u joint on the axel to u joint on the case is around 65-68inches and I can’t find anything online about it. Please help me out with anything you might know Thankyou

I know the 1980 trucks have a slip yoke & not fixed & therefore have a long 1 piece driveshaft. All the others that I've seen with a fixed yolk do have the 2 piece shaft with center support; at least on long bed apps.

Do you by chance know the lengths of the two peice driveshaft on that application with a single cab long bed?

You need to use a 1- piece shaft. My 87 LB has a nv4500, 205 fixed yoke and a 1 piece shaft. However, you need to assemble everything and take the actual measurement from the flange face to the center of the pinion yoke. That's the number the shop will need to make you a slip yoke shaft. My shaft is medium wall thickness, 1350 joints and a CV on the trans side. It cost me $500 for reference. Search under my username and you will find all the info on it along with pictures and vibration issues I dealt with.

a fixed yoke 77 sm465 and np205 has a 2 piece shaft on my roller frame . has a center support too. I could measure for you sometime but I think you have a slip yoke shaft already you should just get a slip yoke 205, the shafts are close but i dont know the exact. I have my original 1980 sm465 np205 1 piece driveshaft with slip yoke for a long bed single cab as well
