Thanks for the assistance. Got the seal in and the hub all back together. Now onto the other side.
Did you end up having the seal installed backwards before?

make sure that the air vent [on the top of the housing] is clean and free.

Yes, I plan to check that too. I think it is good, but will take a look inside because also plan to change the gear oil.
