thats pretty much what i have now, minus the 14b rear (and a 350 of course) since i swapped in a 241 last year. i am bringing my stethoscope with tomorrow to have a good listen to the ac compressor to see if it is growling. if that is the only thing making noise, i think i am going to buy it...

Doesn't matter. all the cylinders are scored fairly bad. Not putting another dime into this engine. I think i am just going to go buy that 1994 k2500 and list my square for sale. I love the square, but the 94 is in so much better shape than my 86 k1500. I have dumped way too much money in this...

Shouldn't a 3/4t have 8 lug axles? Looking at the pics they are only 6, but the doors say 2500.... edit: ok, it must be a 7200lb 3/4t, so 6 lug axles (should be a 14bolt SF?) no idea on what tranny or transfer case. 4l80 would be awesome... Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk

probably the same where you are, but it is the humidity in the air. it is so freaking humid here it just rots things if there is a weak spot. if vehicles are kept up and rust is prevented then no issues, but if there is a spot in a few years it is like cancer :doublepuke:

KBB values that truck at 3100, so i think if i could talk them down to about 2500 i would be doing pretty well. the motor noise will probably help. really hoping it is just the timing chain or some accessory bearing, but it really sounds like a chain dragging over metal.

    replacing pistons only

right, i have dumped a lot of money recently into my square just to keep it running. i will never be able to sell it for the amount of money i have sunk into it. but in the short term I will still probably sell it because I don't need 2 trucks and 1 just sitting there rusting away even though it...

would make a good LS swap candidate too! my truck isn't my daily, i only drive it a maybe 2 days/week to help keep the miles down on my Subaru, which is still driven 25k/yr. truck about 7k/yr. also hauling crap, no towing yet but i think i could tow with the 2500 for my purposes that 3/4t would...

http://grandforks.craigslist.org/cto/5493369073.html But sounds like maybe the timing chain is rubbing on the cover? Not sure yet they were going to have a mechanic look at it. This might be my "fix" i love my square, but i don't know of i really want to put the same kind of money into it...

It seems that is correct anyway, or it can be drilled bit that is a hassle i don't want. I know an olds 350 won't bolt up without an adapter. But what about a Buick roadmaster engine or similar? Can i reuse my intake and carb? Carb might need new jets i would assume Sent from my Nexus 6...

    replacing pistons only

there is only 1 of my local yards on car-part. the rest i need to actually call. i plan to this week. any idea which Vin i would need if it is L or M? The other thing is i have no idea how long the piston skirts have been broken, could have happened last week or before i bought the truck...

    replacing pistons only

No idea. Other than pulling it apart is there anyway to find out? Stock 3.42 gears with 30.5" tires (265/75r15) so it is already a bit of a dog. Could be the combo or just the 305. And would i assume to just get a standard rebuild kit? I have no idea how to mic anything anyway.... Never torn...

    replacing pistons only

so maybe not the proper way to do it. but i have 2 pistons with broken skirts on my wee-oh-five. can i just replace those pistons with the engine still in the truck, or do i need to pull it? it just changes where i have to do the work because i don't have an engine stand or a picker. can i...

What have you done to your square lately??

That makes sense. The oil leak is next on my list. That whole side of my oil pan is leaking. Going to try the 1 piece gasket out, no idea what is on there now, probably multi piece Cork. Hoping it is not the rear main too, is there a way to tell? If it is the rear main i am just going to...

What have you done to your square lately??

Sounded the same as the last 20 months i have owned it...... Bolts were like 3/8" loose. Guess i have never even touched the starter so it has prob been loose for quite a while Now it sounds much better and starts better too.. By better i mean quiet, it wasn't grinding or anything just kinda...
