    Column Shift Linkage Bushings

I did that at first but now remember that they don’t come with the bushing. You still have one of your bushings. Do you have the other one too? I only had the one so I just ordered from gmclassics. I still have the other parts leftover, so I just now confirmed that the plastic bushing fits...

    Column Shift Linkage Bushings

These worked for me. https://gmclassics.com/part/transmission-linkage-grommet/ I think what you have left on your rod is the plastic bushing insert from the original two-part grommet. I had that plastic bushing as well on one rod, but it was still inside a partially shredded rubber grommet...

76 GMC C25 Suburban 3-point seat belt trim question

I would probably try a spade bit myself they have teeth on the outside to score a clean outline. Best to try on a similar material as a test piece to confirm/practice though. Watch out for the included LMC bolt though. On my 76, my hole threads were sae and the supplied bolt was metric. It...

Are hood latches interchangeable between 76 and 77?

The handle for the 1976 is offset since the 76 grille has a bar running right up the midline. 77 you just reach right through since there is a grille hole right at the top center. My 76 for some reason, has a 77 style grille and centered release handle. If I switch to a 1976 grille, do I just...

Trash my dash? And interior panel take offs?

Thanks y’all I’ll let this stuff percolate in the attic for a while.

Trash my dash? And interior panel take offs?

Will I regret throwing out my old red trim panels and dash? I love the new tan stuff I got from LMC. The old take offs are taking up a lot of space. They’re all faded and the dash is mega cracked. I heard folks talk about maybe using the dash base for reupholstery. Would other people potentially...

I loved the result I got with the LMC dash pad on my 76 C10.

Thanks, yep, the part number for the connector makes sense.

    Wiring diagram numbers

1976 factory wiring diagram. What are the long numbers like I've circled in the pic? Are they of any use to the home mechanic?

Looks great man. Needs a bowtie grill. Then again so does mine!

Nice looking truck fellow step-side owner. I wish mine looked that clean!

    Replacing Outer Window Seals

Installed new today and got a couple removal/install photos to post. Old ones were as brittle as ceramic. Tips: a hook pick works to grab the clips, even past hardened rubber. There is clearance to slip it into the clip once you’re down there. I did bend the hook on the drivers side. Lineman’s...

    Emergency brake warning light

I believe that they appeared in 1979. Wiring diagrams pre-79 do not show the switch, but the 79 does. (See '79 wiring detail) My 76 appears to be drilled for it, but it's not there. (hole location circled, though it appears a bit fuzzy in the pic). Curiously, the 76 service manual assumes that...

Finding a folding bench seat for my 76 C10

It seems like there are two considerations. Was it already on its own rails? Someone just told me that the rail to body mounting was universal 73-87, but that the seat to rail connection changed in 1981.

    Steering Column Advice

If those bolts are indeed loose, does that cause the whole wheel to wobble or just the gear shift? I've got a different column (fixed, three on the tree), but only my shifter and its housing wobbles, not the ignition section or the wheel, which is solid as a rock. Any clarifications?

Finding a folding bench seat for my 76 C10

I was a little horrified when I realized "fixed" bench seats even existed. I thought they were basically invented with folding mechs. *entitled* lol. Is the best option to look on Facebook Marketplace? I was also surprised nobody makes an OE-style aftermarket one. The local u-pull doesn't even...

    Complete Interior Install

You talking LMC $400ish metal-backed dashes? I used a preexisting hole in the truck's metal sub-dash (I think PO drilled it) to run a screw from the inside out into the backing of my LMC dash as I held it in place. That held enough to get it draped and molded perfectly around the instrument...

head light switch not releasing with button

Make sure your light icon lines up when you reinstall. It has some rotation, but only goes so far depending on the orientation of the shaft.

    73-80 LMC Dash Pad

I installed the LMC dash (38-8122-SD) last week in my 76 as part of an interior restoration. Good experience. Good fit. The notorious left side stuck up/out a little, but there was clearly enough room for it. More of a shaping issue. Running a screw from the inside sucked it right in as I held...

1976 C10 Custom Deluxe Stepside Shortbed- First Project

Thanks, I originally wanted a fleetside, but once I got this, I realized how nice the stepper is to load from the front.

Were plain grilles ever offered stock?

Thank you @nvrenuf. At some point someone must have put a blank grille on mine. There are some great looking replacements that come with the emblems, so I may go for one of those eventually.
