    6.2 cooling system/serpentine upgrade

When it comes to ease of repair, a serpentine belt replacement is hands down the faster and easier of the two. All that is required is breaker bar and a new belt, at least for my system. No need to bring out the tool box to loosen component bolts or remove belts to replace another belt followed...

    6.2 cooling system/serpentine upgrade

The benefits include: 1. Higher flowing water pump for better cooling performance 2. More responsive fan clutch 3. Fan moves so much more air over the engine now 4. Serpentine belts last longer than V-belts 5. No belt squealing because of the tensioner 6. If you have ever had to change...

Two Group 34 Red Top Optima Batteries

I have two used optima batteries with less than 6,000 miles on them in three years. I had these tested at the local O'reillys a week or so ago. Batteries tested good (see pictures). I tried the craigslist route but it seems only scammers and low ballers want to send me offers. I'm asking $100...

Power Window Relay Mod on Rear Window

Got rid of the ground at 87a on both relays and everything works perfectly. I can say the window does go up and down faster but not by much. I'm talking only fractions of a second faster. I am using junk yard parts too so maybe the motor is all worn out. I'll have to see if a newer motor...

Power Window Relay Mod on Rear Window

Well with re-arranging my pins to the above wiring I am able to get the harness installed and properly grounded and hooked up to power without burning up any fusible link! Progress is progress. Ok, so now that nothing is smoking right away I turn the key and still no smoke. I'm 2 for 2! I push...

Power Window Relay Mod on Rear Window

Ok, I think I have this figured out. If you look on the wiring for the door power windows you'll see that each switch has a ground wire that connects to the main power window harness which is grounded to the bus bar under the dash. On the rear power motor the switch is not grounded. The only...

Power Window Relay Mod on Rear Window

Replaced the pieces of the harness that got all melty and tried again after swapping pins 85 and 86 in the relay mount. Fusible link burnt up again. Glad I added some quick disconnects this time in case the link burned up again. This time it was only one wire that got hot and melted the relay...

Power Window Relay Mod on Rear Window

Well I built a harness to splice into the factory wiring and I didnt reverse the wires. From my drawing numbers 85 and 86 need to be swapped to work correctly which is why I guess the fusible link I put on burned up. I'll rebuild the the harness and try again as some as some new connectors get here.

What have you done to your square lately??

Biggest pain I've encountered swapping a harness is getting the wiring off the starter. Thats a pain to simultaneously hold the starter up with one hand while trying to take a small nut off to get one wire off the solenoid. There is one bolt on the fuseblock holding the engine/light harnesses...

Power Window Relay Mod on Rear Window

A thought came to me while looking at the relay mod for the power windows in our square trucks. Could that same mod be applied to a power rear motor? It has an up, down, and off position on the switch just like the side power windows. You could pull 12V right off the junction block and splice...

    Should I swap to a 6.2?

I bought one of those surplus motors and it had been recently been rebuilt. I just put the heads from it on my 6.2 when I was looking for my overheating cause. Everything was in excellent shape except for the precombustion chambers. They had some cracks but if they were within the margins for...
