Another "how much can I drop" question...

Yeah, I get you. I think I'll go with the 2/4 drop since this is a daily and I'm not trying to hit any drag strips. Hopefully it does "look cool," because it sure ain't fast or comfortable lol.

Another "how much can I drop" question...

Side exhaust has 7.75" (front) clearance, 8.75" rear clearance. Tape measure is 2.75" in these pictures:

Another "how much can I drop" question...

Thanks! I have a 2006 Sportster I'm turning into a dual sport ride, and a 1969 Shovelhead chopper in a rigid frame. Yours looks great, but even at 3 inches it looks like my exhaust may not clear, let alone the tires rubbing. That's the stance I want though... Would 2-5 lower it into a stance...

Another "how much can I drop" question...

So, here's how she sits as of today: I've got stock suspension, riding 15x7 American Racing wheels with 235-75 R15 tires. I also have side exhaust with a front clearance of about 8.5" and rear clearance around 9.5". This truck is a daily driver and occasionally a Harley hauler. What I...

How screwed am I? Broken intake manifold bolt hole in head.

Well, tapped the head about a quarter inch down, not all the way through to the water jacket but a bit deeper. Got the intake manifold installed, plus a new Edelbrock 1406. Everything seems to be holding up in test drives yesterday and today, I'll be putting her to the real test driving 200...

How screwed am I? Broken intake manifold bolt hole in head.

I have never had a motor down to the heads before. I'm not really familiar with the "anatomy" of where the water jacket runs. Maybe somebody can chime in with a diagram or something. At any rate, today is the end of my work weekend so my truck will likely be out of commission until next Monday...

How screwed am I? Broken intake manifold bolt hole in head.

I was using a big ol' flathead, and had worked it under all the way to the second or third bolt hole, lengthwise between the manifold and head surface. It was stuck on there real good, so I pushed down, and I guess the fulcrum point must have lined up on that corner just right. I can't imagine...

How screwed am I? Broken intake manifold bolt hole in head.

So I tried to get a good shot but with a phone camera, it doesn't do to well. Below is the best I got. It appears that only one full thread remains in the hole. I may have to get a tap and a longer bolt as suggested. Unfortunately I don't have those on hand. I tried reinstalling the manifold but...

How screwed am I? Broken intake manifold bolt hole in head.

Knockingdiesel, the bolt came out, but prying the intake manifold off crumbled the outboard corner of the bolt hole. Apparently prying on cast iron is a no-no... I have about a quarter inch of thread left below the bottom of the failure and it doesn't seem to have gone near the water jacket. I...

How screwed am I? Broken intake manifold bolt hole in head.

Title says it all... Front-most bolt hole on driver side crumbled while prying off the intake manifold.

Opinions on getting my truck level

What size wheels and tires are you running? I'm not contributing to the discussion but this is the exact stance I'm lookin' for out of mine...

    LMC Radio?

Currently bumbling my way through installing this. Wife bought it for me from amazon... It is most definitely not plug and play. It came with a neatly folded pasta salad of wires out the back... The only one I'm absolutely sure I'm going to attach correctly is the ground. First time...

    Fuel pump

for a N/A carb truck? I feel like 60psi is way too high.

    Holley 600 tune/vacuum

Ended up finding the appropriate thermostat housing at an autozone. Had the little ear to attach the spring. I'll inspect closer this afternoon when I get off work, but I didn't notice that it had 2 springs; I will confirm. The carb is an 1850-4. I switched the vacuum advance back to...

    Holley 600 tune/vacuum

Sorry for the double post, but I'll be going to the parts store tomorrow... I drilled out a small hole in a washer to use as a hole for the spring to attach to, which isn't easy to do without a vice, but of course the old thermostat housing has one long bolt and one short bolt, and the driver's...

    Holley 600 tune/vacuum

I was gone all weekend so I ordered the parts. Got the new housing in the mail, but it doesn't have a hole to attach the throttle spring! Any idea of a quick fix I can rig up so I don't have to go to the parts store tomorrow?

    Holley 600 tune/vacuum

Well the good news is I hit the engine bay with "Gunk" brand engine degreaser and can now see the markings on the sawtooth indicator. The bad news is the degreaser cleaned off a small JB-weld or some other filler-type repair off of the thermostat housing and I now have a small green geyser...

    Holley 600 tune/vacuum

I think maybe I was overthinking it earlier... If the TDC (0°) mark is to the LEFT of the indicator, then the indicator is showing degrees advance. Now somebody I spoke with earlier told me I should have some sort of other measurement lines on the harmonic balancer but I don't see any. Maybe...

    Holley 600 tune/vacuum

Well I got to tinkering, wrenching, strobing, etc. I got the fuel ratio dialed in, I think, and got my vacuum set up steady right around 20.5" with a slight needle wobble up and down. Then I got to timing, and I'm not sure I understand what I'm doing. I see the timing mark and a sawblade...

    Holley 600 tune/vacuum

Bought a MityVac gauge and a timing light today, unfortunately got home late and ran of sunlight. I'll getting started tomorrow, any tips other than ones above before I get started? I'll be hitting up YouTube to see what I can sort out.

    Holley 600 tune/vacuum

I don't own a vacuum gauge or a timing light but wouldn't opposed owning one of each if they're not expensive. I don't know any wrenchers around here I just moved to Virginia in October. I did check my oil... The oil is fresh, however I can't get a clean line on the dipstick because the...

    Holley 600 tune/vacuum

Here are some exterior shots of the truck. Now that I've plugged the one vacuum leak I found, I took the truck for a little test drive and according to my butt-dyno it seems a slight bit more responsive and peppy. However, now there's a whirring or ticking sound coming from I think the...

Here's some more engine bay shots. I connected the distributor vacuum to where it's supposed to connect and plugged the T with a screw.

    Holley 600 tune/vacuum

Intake manifold has what I think says "6268751" and under that "K1". Carb appears to be an 1850-4. I'll Google the thermostatic thing because I don't know what it is. The right side valve cover has a hose (valve?) that feeds into the back of the carb. The left side valve cover has a hose...
