What have you done to your square lately??

Trimmed my fenders and painted my stock bumpers black with an aerosol bedliner. Look in "paint and body" section for the fender trim info and pics. The stock bumpers will eventually be swapped when I have time to fab up some beefy ones. I also fixed my steering column and ordered up a custom...

    Front Fender trim

I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. Took roughly an hour to do both sides making sure to take my time.

    Rough country frame reinforcement kit

I would cut out the rot and replace/plate accordingly. I'm blown away that you didn't feel major slop in the steering long ago! The frame repair kit isn't made to fix/band-aid that kind of damage.

    Powder coating aluminum wheels

I have a set of H2 wheels that I'll be running soon, but I want to have them powder coated black first. I would like some feedback on how well the finish holds up. Anyone running powder coated wheels please chime in. On a side note, I'm looking to sell my current tires/wheels so if anyone...

    6" lift leveling

It does look level enough from the picture. My K5 sagged in the rear and i used an EZ inch to level it.

What have you done to your square lately??

Installed new motor mounts and a tranny mount on friday. Next on the list is to install my new steering gear box and frame brace along with the power steering pump.

    Tranny mount torque settings?

I spoke with a mechanic and was told 35-40 ft/lbs. Hopefully this helps someone else down the line.

    Which do you prefer??

I know I'm coming in on this a little late since I'm new to the forum, but I vote K5. I run a 4" lift with 37" tires on mine. Minimal trimming of the front fender and no trimming in the rear.

Truck is leaning to one side ???

My K5 leans to the driver's side. I've swapped out all the suspension components and gone through various rear spring packs (currently 6 leaf 56" springs with a shackle flip). New shocks, etc.. I have noticed the lean is less noticeable when the gas tank is closer to empty. No sway bar either as...

What have you done to your square lately??

I just fixed my loose steering column. Been driving it that way for about 1.5 years.. What a huge difference!! haha I'm in the process of replacing the motor mounts, tranny mount, and all steering components. I switched over to cross-over steering when I did my 1-ton swap.

    Tranny mount torque settings?

I sheared off one of the fixed studs in the new transmission mount and have to buy another. I cannot find torque settings for the mount. Would someone share the torque settings please. 1988 K5 = 700r4/208 Thanks!

    Hello from TX

Not my first chevy, but my first K5. 1988 with stock 350/700r4/208/Dana 60/14 Bolt FF, 4" lift up front & 5-6" in the rear (shackle flip/EZ inch/56" springs), 37" tires. It was pretty much stock the day I got it. I have plenty of other mods on the to do list.
