    Idler arm frame mount

Hi all, I have my new idler arm. However, the j shaped frame mount has grooving inside the bore where the idler arm taper would bolt. This leads me to believe the old idler arm rotated inside the mount at some point. I'd like to replace this frame mount part since I'm replacing everything else...

critique my door hinge replacement plans, please

I appreciate the responses everyone. I already have the hinge and it's been painted with the correct color. I bought a can from Automotive Touchup Paints. The match is pretty dang good. Good enough for a door hinge anyway. I've lowered the truck too much for the wheels I have so I'll be adding...

critique my door hinge replacement plans, please

The hinge doesn't cost much and it's just as difficult to replace so I went with a new hinge. I'm pretty sure the bushing is rotating inside the hinge anyway. That makes it iffy if only a pin and bushing replacement would do the trick. Thanks

critique my door hinge replacement plans, please

I've found threads where others have mentioned getting to those pillar bolts with wrenches. My concern is damaging the paint. I don't think I can easily get to those bolts. Especially, to put them back in without fear of damaging the paint. I thought about pulling the fender, but that involves...

critique my door hinge replacement plans, please

My truck is all together and the paint is in great shape. I need to replace the lower driver's side hinge though. I've never done this on these trucks before so I'm not 100% what I can get away with during the actual work. I'd appreciate any feedback to my plans. My plan, in general, is to...

    Just one more inch

I appreciate it, Eddie. I grew up before the age of the internet and cell phones so I'm very familiar with how limited knowledge was compared to today. It was so easy to find vehicles that were not modified properly. They still exist today but the information is out there and readily available...

I appreciate it, John. Yes, I'm aware Rick is sitting on 22s which is why I was looking at the tire and not the rim itself. I love how tucked his rear wheels are but I prefer thicker tires so I'll most likely never go large than 20s. Marcus, did you have to cut the inner fenders to make the...

I'm right at 13.5" from hub center to wheel arch. I would say you can go one more inch before you start getting into all the issues associated with going very low. Issues such as needing Slosh Tubz and maybe changing control arms or at least modifying the bumpstop on the factory arms, etc. If...

I appreciate it, Kevin. I absolutely agree it's great the way it is. I'm always tinkering though so I'll be making changes here and there along the way.

I understand what you're saying, Kevin, and you're right to a large extent. The truck is a toy for me and spending time tweaking it isn't a chore, it's my hobby. So while most people won't notice the extra 1/2", I will because I stared at it long enough to know what I want it to look like. It...

    Just one more inch

Well, I finished up getting the rear shock extenders on and was able to go drive. I rub in certain situations but it's not too bad. I will be altering my bump stops in the front to gain more travel before hitting them. I think I'll try trimming the stop first. This may cause the rubbing to be...

    Just one more inch

EDIT: I typed this all out before realizing others had replied before me. Yes, the second number is the aspect ratio. It's a percentage of the width. In this case, 35% of 295mm and 245mm. To calculate tire diameter, you take the width multiply by two times the aspect ratio as a percentage and...

    Just one more inch

Did you mistype the front aspect ratio? A 245/35 won't be as tall as a 295/35 tire. Having a 28in tall tire helps fill the front wheel well for sure. I just worry you'll have the same issue with rubbing that I anticipate. I should have mine back on the ground today and can drive it to confirm...

    Just one more inch

Your rear tires calculate out to 28 inches but your fronts are at 26 which means you have less wheel to fill the area from hub up to fender than I do. If you want to take away that potential gap, you'll have to go with a taller tire. This may force you to get Slosh Tubz or modify your tubs. I've...
