    Best Gasket Sealer

I read recently about an idea of helping an RTV sealed area not leak. Don't fully torque the bolts, but allow the RTV to "firm up" then torque to spec. I do have to second the Lube Locker gaskets, I have not had one leak yet, and they are reuseable if taken apart carefully.

Can you run Schaeffer 50W oil in a SM465?

When I was stationed in Idaho, I had a 76 GMC and used the Amsoil in the trans. With regular gear oil it was really hard to shift in the winter. I swapped to the Amsoil and it was so much smoother in the cold, summer time it was even lighter shifting, but it did make a little more noise. I put...

    NVU gauges

I looked at these before I got the Speed Hut gauges. I certainly think they are a nice upgrade from stock guages. The Speed Hut has the blinker & High beam indicator on the speedo also. I only went with the Speed Hut as they had more options for range on speedo & tach and color combinations.

    Homemade car trailers

this is late for this discussion, but, if you want to build a trailer of your own. Check out some of the trailer MFG web sites for info. Many list the material used and you can judge your load requirements to match. I built a 20ft dovetail trailer back in 2000. I used channel for everything...

    TrueTrac for rear axle...likes/dislikes?

I installed Truetrac's in the front & read diffs on my 01 Ram 3500. I do have to add 6-800 lbs between the wheel wells to give the rear tires some weight on them. We don't get much snow in OK, but I do not fear having to drive in it any more. The cummins give the front tires enough weight so...

What tdc tool do y'all recommend?

https://www.summitracing.com/parts/sng-33650 Mr Gasket or Moroso also make a whistle style. I tried to use the rod version shown in first post, no luck as the dome/valve reliefs on the piston bound up the rod. There is info that recommends the rod style for engines that have the spark plug in a...

    Latest thinking on replacement gauges

These may not be for everyone as the style is not a factory look. This is what I ordered from Speed Hut.

I want a rear sliding window!

I got a slider from a auto glass shop and it was the single pane slider. I made arrangements to have them do the install after I got it tinted. These days you need the added tint for the sun and those driving behind you with the high beams on

Adding convertor (s). Yes, I said adding.

YES, long tube headers are going to need either ceramic coating or wrapped to keep heat in to light cat. This is also why most have to use a heated O2 sensor with headers, lack of heat. If you have the space put the cats right after the collector adapter. Trying to be green isn't easy on old stuff.

bearings instead of bushings front control arms

contact Global West, they make numerous Delrin bushing sets for GM and Ford. You may need measure your control arms so they can possibly match on the shelf parts. I installed a set on my 94 Vette up front. No increase in ride harshness as I didn't change either the shocks or spring rate. The...

    Truck lite 27270c LED upgrade.

my 85 is a factory single light truck. If your truck is a factory 4 headlight system, you also have to change the core support. Probably easier to get the 4x6 lights.
