    Goodbye to my Square

I sold my Square after I picked up my new truck. I couldn't keep both and needed some cash more than an extra pickup. Last photo before giving to the next owner. He hopefully will give it the resto that I never could: One day I'll take a trailer and the new truck down South to pick up...

Inner Cab Heater/AC Housing Reference Pics

I found a couple other threads and links: http://www.gmsquarebody.com/forum/showthread.php?t=323 http://coloradok5.com/heatercore.shtml This sounds like a nightmare job. I thought the tranny replacement was the worst of it.

    Heater core R&R

My heater core just cracked and I'm now terrified that I have to do this job now. Truck isn't worth paying a mechanic to do it, and it's my winter vehicle so I need that heater back.

Inner Cab Heater/AC Housing Reference Pics

I think this is the right thread... but my heater core cracked and died this weekend. I was sitting at a light when anti-freeze steam started coming in through the vents and passenger footwell. I bypassed the heater core until I get it replaced. I have an 84 K10 w/ AC. Which heater core...

    Mushy Brake Problem

One difference... My brakes weren't mushy, actually they were really touchy prior to the replacement.

    Mushy Brake Problem

I had almost exactly the same problem.... I was driving around when my front right caliper froze. I replaced both calipers and I spent forever bleeding the system. I put two bottles of fluid through the system. Pedal is firm when the car is off, start it up it feels softish. Stop it once and...

    Running Hot?

I did a chemical test for exhaust gasses in the coolant and it was negative. I'm fairly sure I have a leaky radiator. Which explains the lack of pressure in the system. I'm going to order up a new radiator, and while its off replace my accessory belts on the engine. Thanks for all the tips...

    Running Hot?

I noticed foam in there recently when I was trying to test out a temporary overflow bottle. I'm guessing this is evidence of exhaust gasses in the coolant? I haven't seen a lot of white smoke, I believe only some steam from water in the pipes when it gets up to temperature. I just tried...

    Running Hot?

I pulled the thermostat. I will give it a longer test drive, but it seemed to be running cooler. The thermostat looks fine, but I didn't try putting it on the stove. I'm to try that trick with the air compressor you suggested. I still am nervous that I might also have a blown head-gasket.

    Running Hot?

I replaced the coolant cap and the water neck gasket. Neither should be leaking now. There is no overflow bottle installed yet. If this motor is cracked I might lose my mind. This truck will officially be a lemon. How can I determine definitively if I have exhaust gases in my coolant? I'm not...

    Running Hot?

I was curious about the ideal construction... Aluminum/Plastic All Aluminum Brass/Copper Etc. Benefits? I'd think all aluminum would be weight and corrosion resistance. But I don't really care about weight that much. What about the plastic end-tanks? Is that crap?

    Running Hot?

So lets assume I need a new radiator... I have the factory radiator with auto trans cooler in it, as well as a http://www.summitracing.com/parts/hda-678 in series. It looks like I can spend anywhere from $90-400 for a replacement. What is the best bang for the buck? What fits the best...

    Running Hot?

I do have the radiator shroud installed. I'll try pulling the t-stat. If I need to replace it, do I need a 140* or 180* t-stat? I've been looking at radiators, and it seems like I can get some aluminum ones with plastic side tanks for about $200 which doesn't seem awful. I have a feeling this...

    Running Hot?

Well, I'm pretty sure it really is getting hot. I thought maybe my timing was screwed up, but when it got hot today it kept trying to run when I turned the ignition off. Also the IR thermometer and the "can you hold the rad hose" test says it really is running hot. Physics lesson aside... why...
