I had a 91 Cressida with the 7M-GE. Great car, wish I wouldn't have sold it. 220k miles and 30 years old and the only thing that didn't work was the lab belt tab that kept it in place when unbuckled... There's situations where that is possible, I couldn't say for sure one way or the other on this in particular. But that transmission needs to be rebuilt, and swapping a 4wd output shaft shouldn't be too hard while it is torn apart.- Hunter79764

Ls swap
No issues with a 2wd vs 4wd engine, just the transmission. To convert the 4L60 in the Tahoe to a 4wd, it will need to have the output shaft swapped, which is essentially the last item to be pulled from the transmission. When you have it rebuilt, it should not be a problem to have it converted...- Hunter79764

Does it seem like adjusting the door hinges might be an option? And/or replacing the pin bushings, if there is some play in the door? Scores from DIY Parts Yards, Pull A Part, U Pull It etc
I was at the yards looking for parts on my 2004 yukon and saw what looked to be a ~90 model Suburban. Entire front end, dash, front seats, and doors were gone, but the rest was there, nice and tidy. That's interesting on the stock springs. I might look closely at a new set of stock springs, and hang on to the stiff duals for another build in something less daily-driver... Especially if I have to replace the cam and go with a milder one.- Hunter79764

Not the update you're looking for, but it's the update I've got. Dad came in Friday afternoon (that's him standing in front of the finished truck), it rained all day Saturday, but Sunday evening by 11 it was 90% done and still ugly, but much less ugly. As for live data, the Torque app and a bluetooth adapter is a good option if you don't have HPTuners or similar. I don't have any other input on the issue, sounds like good advice so far. 31x10.5 with 3:73 gears.700R4 trans. What RPM will I have at 70MPH?
https://spicerparts.com/calculators/transmission-ratio-rpm-calculator 2000 RPM is 71 MPH. Your exact tire will affect it of course, and that assumes you have the lockup working, as well. Going to a 33" gets 75 mph @2000 rpm, for example.- Hunter79764

I think I used Michigan Motorsports lifter and tray setup, but it was also right at the front end of Covid when everything was crazy, so it might just be a bad batch (assuming that's my issue). Pretty sure I used GM head gaskets, no reason for me to switch then. I looked it up, it was a 220/232...- Hunter79764

On the newer stuff, you're right, they are much smarter and you gain a lot of flexibility. The earlier returnless was more what I was referring to, where the fuel pump module had a regulator built in, and the "return line" was about 6" and part of the assembly, never leaving the tank. 58 psi...- Hunter79764

It is sort of a trade off cycle. Pump mounted external makes it easier to mess with wiring and/or change out, but it also makes it more likely to have to mess with wiring or change it. Internal pump is much happier, and should get you 100k miles pretty easy, and for most folks doing a swap...- Hunter79764

Yes, run the factory regulator on the rail. Most people think that the "returnless" style is better because it is newer, it isn't.
