Update: It was a clutch adjustment issue. Sought the assistance of a buddy who is more knowledgeable and competent than I and we got it resolved. Thanks for your assistance.

Transmission grinds going into L or R

This is occurring while stationary and has not always been the case. I’ll try adjusting again and start looking into a new clutch. Thanks!

Transmission grinds going into L or R

1984 Chevy K30. 454. NP435. NP205. 33k on the clock. It has definitely turned over at least once. I have put about 8k on the truck since I purchased it in 2019. Recently, my transmission has been grinding when I shift to Low/1st or Reverse. I adjusted the clutch (mechanical linkage) and the...

    049 Heads

    1984 RCLB Chevy K30, 454, SM465, NP205, D60, 14FF w/4.10 gears I found a pair of complete 049 heads locally for $175. From what I’ve read, they’re a desirable head for daily driver/towing applications. Depending on what I find (2 vs 4 bolt mains, stock bore vs .030, 0.060) when the 454 in my...

14 bolt FF hub seal orientation

Thank you for responding, you saved my new brake shoes. I already purchased a new seal and axle flange gasket to correct my error.

14 bolt FF hub seal orientation

I’m in the process of installing new brake shoes, drums and hardware and inner and outer wheel bearings and seals in my 84 K30. The rear axle is a 14 bolt full floater. I took pictures during disassembly but am now second guessing whether I may have installed the passenger side seal backwards...

Brake pedal needs manually reset after depressing

After tearing into the dash with the intention of replacing the brake pedal return spring, I decided against it. Reason being, everything worked fine before I changed the hydroboost unit. Also, the spring, which looks to be entirely enclosed in a steel tube of sorts, appears to be in good...

Brake pedal needs manually reset after depressing

So far I’ve been able to locate three different part numbers for hydroboost pedal rods: -71217 (the one currently installed) -71346 -71586 does anyone happen to know the difference between the rods? -Eric

Brake pedal needs manually reset after depressing

That’s the part number I ordered. @ Craig 85, you’re probably right, you always have been with regard to my truck. If the spring doesn’t fix it, I’ll probably take the hydroboost back to Napa and exchange it for another unit. Also, I don’t know if it means anything but I’ve found that...

Brake pedal needs manually reset after depressing

I’m beginning to think the unit I bought (reman) is defective, which is unfortunate. The part is easy enough to change, is under warranty, and now that I finally figured out how to bleed the PS system that’s not an issue. Just need to find the time again lol going to change the brake pedal...

Brake pedal needs manually reset after depressing

Factory hydroboost. This pedal issue only began after I replaced a the hydroboost unit due to it leaking all over everything. Eric

Brake pedal needs manually reset after depressing

There is a low hum when I hold the pedal depressed but it is nothing like the groaning I had before. As far as the pedal being sloppy, the brake pedal has maybe 1/8” of play side to side and maybe 1/4” forward and back/up and down before it starts meeting resistance. -Eric
