OEM Part Number

I have a 1984 C10 5.0L LE9 Silverado with what I believe is an R4 A/C compressor. Can anyone tell me what was the original part number for the compressor? Thanks.

Call your local GM dealer with the VIN for verification. I believe all the A4 compressors were the same except for the clutch assembly

19169344 is the R4 unit, and surprise surprise it’s still available.

Do you know who the manufacturer is? I know Standard Motor Products (SMP) currently makes them for a number of distributors. Since the demand probably isn’t too high, I wonder if they make them for GM?
I’m on my third new compressor and like the previous two Murray’s, this ACDelco is leaking at the seal and making a shrill noise only at startup and is also slinging oil on the wheel well. The clutch pulley on all three compressors, is a little wider than the crank and PS pulleys so the 7555 Gates belt doesn’t fit properly.

Unfortunately I’d probably have to have it in my hands to confirm. Allegedly it’s a real delco part, whatever that means these days. I get just as many junk parts that are “GM” in a box with a GM number as I do aftermarket. It’s pretty sad

My original A6 compressor blew the shaft seal a while back. I got a rebuild kit on ebay that had the new design double lip seal instead of the carbon/ceramic one that they originally used and it worked great. I think it was only ~$30 for the rebuild kit and you can get all the special tools to disassemble the clutch and compressor for free by renting them from autozone or oreilly.

It is a "Genuine GM part", but that part number comes up as a reman at all of the locations I've seen it.

It’s super possible that they’re all remans now. Even a lot of the newer vehicles I work only have reman GM parts available.
