I've always ran the Monroe shocks that were a little higher end ($50-$60) or the KYBs that were about the same price. Had good luck with both.

I'll second the KYBs. I usually get the GR2s.

I just picked up a set of 4 Monroe OE Spectrum shocks for my 80 Camaro. After a 25% coupon code and a $20 off speedperks reward I got all four shocks for $60 out the door. That would be my recommendation.

I did the same thing yesterday and got a pair of Thrush glasspacks with a pair of clamps for $30. That's basically buy-one-get-one.

When you learn how to Advance Auto, you can save some seriously big doll-hairs.

Keep in mind Gabriel has lifetime warranty. If one leaks, take both front or rear back and get another set for free. I had one on the front start to leak after 2 years, I took both fronts back to autozone and they let me upgrade. Course I know the guys there somewhat.

The Monroe OE Spectrum have a lifetime warranty at Advance, as do many many many of their parts. I now make copies of all of my receipts because 90% of the parts I buy there have lifetime.

Bet you $10 if you are buying parts at Oreilly you are spending waaaaaay too much. I tried looking at them for a few parts. They were so grossly overpriced I never went back (as in double AA BEFORE discounts).

Don't ever buy parts at a place because of the people. They are all the same at this point (idiots) just to different degrees. I buy all my parts online, do my own homework, and get all the discounts I can find. I save MASSIVE amounts of money doing it this way, and have no brand loyalty at all. Advance tends to be the cheapest, and also tends to carry lifetime warranties on most parts, but if Amazon, eBay, Autozone etc etc have a better price for a comparable part with comparable warranty, I go there.

I know a lot of people like Oreilly. I'll admit, they have nice stores. However, my money is more important to me than a clean store or more competent people. I order all my parts online anyway, so the only thing the counter jockeys have to do for me is get my parts. A monkey could do that.

Must be location based as Oreilly ends up being cheaper on most things I buy. But I generally just steer to whatever place is closer if the price is good. Napa is consistently more expensive on most parts for no apparent reason.

Wow don't come to the Oreilly here in my town, all women but two very young guys. They can't do crap without looking it up in the computer. When I was looking for body bushing for my Blazer, asked them, the girl had no idea what I was talking about, but still wanted to know what size motor.

Good Jake...and you? I haven't been on much lately either. They have been trying to kill us at work. I'm off on medical leave of absents at the moment. Feel at work, drove my right knee into the ballast and bruised the tip of my Femur. It's getting me two weeks off, so I have been working on the Mistress a little.
