There's only about 110lbs difference, not hard to take a 100lbs off the front. :D

i have an 84 c10 short bed two wheel drive. i put a big block and a turbo 400 in it. all i had to do was change the front yoke. fit great

That's what I did too. I used the long style yoke from a 4x4 and it made up the difference in length. It's not the correct conversion yoke, but was dirt cheap and works well so far. It's been around 2-3K miles or so I guess.

Does the slip yoke have to be at 3/4 - 1 inch out from bottoming out, or as long as it's still on the splines a couple inches am I going to have to worry about the drive shaft slipping off? Center to center u joint is 55.5 with the th350 yoke. I haven't put the th400 yoke on the shaft yet, with the shaft 1 inch out of the trans its a 2 3/8 inch difference. Maybe I'm over thinking this.

I have a short bed c10 and 496 with a th400 from a short bus, I had the same slip yoke made and drive shaft from denny's. Very nice part and good people. I don't remember the length but followed denny's instructions and it fit great.
