Not to jack your thread as im not sure on your question but im curious if theres an upgrade for the wiper motor also.

Nope, but starting in the mid 80's they went to the peg type wiper arm. IMHO, that's just as good as the J-hook design.
You may just need a new one. The wipers get pretty slow with an old, worn wiper motor.
