The window glass separated from the metal channel that attaches to it. Is silicone my best bet to attach the metal back to the glass?

No, definitely not silicone. Is the sash rusty at all?

There's a few ways that you can do it, but my preferred method is a primerless windshield urethane. I also like to drill several small holes through the glass channel in the sash, to give the urethane more bite if the sash starts to rust.

The correct way is to use the tape to set it in. LMC sells it. I learned the ins/outs of it when I rebuilt my doors. It's kinda of a PITA as it's a very tight fit.

Just a bit rusty, still looks solid.

There's more than one "correct" way. The original way (the tape) is one of them.

:worthy: tru dat. I should have said the "factory" way but, then again the factory isn't always the "best" way either.
