This is on the frame on the driver's side just behind the radiator.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Does it go to the proportioning valve?

I'm disassembling everything and have taken about 300 pics thus far. Just making notes on the wiring. The PO left it in such a mess, no idea about whats missing.

Thanks fellas.

A few more for the gurus. My truck was totally bastardized by the PO's son. A good portion of the vac lines and wiring is missing or taped with balls of SOLID core red wires...and its nothing compared to the erector set cobbled mess that is my shift linkage. Its all coming out as I have a new wiring harness and will have to figure the vac lines as I go. Also - this was a left coast truck so I know it had emission garbage that I wont need either. Thanks in advance for the help - is most appreciated.

1. This is on the passenger side firewall. The gromit is for the blower. The lower vac line goes into the firewall almost at the fender.

2. This is how it arrived - unplugged vac lines and all.

Pic 2 is the egr solenoid. Pic 1 looks like a tip in switch for the ignition, but it's a different style than I am used to.Pic 4 I need a different angle of it and pic 3 I'll look at some of My trucks because I really don't know what that feeds power to.

P.S. if you have an extra pigtail for the egr solenoid I'll buy it.

Thanks a bunch fellas - the last square I had that I worked on was almost 30 yrs ago, so still getting familiar with them. Add in its a left coast truck with emissions add-on stuff and a PO that butchered it....this help is invaluable. I'm gutting it so dont want to toss or further damage something I will actually need. Going FI so the Q-Jet stuff is going in a box. :)

Here's a Whitman's sampler of the wiring situation. The fuse panel pic is about 1/4 of the mess. There are sections of original harnesses just cut off and taped (no idea what they did or went to). To the right of it is a ball of wire about the size of a vollyball....and nothing crimped - all tape. Like I said.....some people need high five'd.....in the face.....with a chair.

Must have been a sale on red wire (some of it is solid core to boot).

I believe this has something to do with the HVAC and is fed by a vacuum port switch (temp controlled) mounted at the front of the intake.

#4 - those green wires - looks to go down under like towards the transmission. Dunno.

The wiring is so messed up, only thing I'm doing now is what plug ends to keep.
