I ordered
a buncha screws for my dash and gauge cluster.
a Shift Indicator (I don't even see the orange thing in mine)
an Upper Steering column cover
a Lower Steering column cover
New Instrument Lens for the cluster
an 11x17" Laminated copy of the Wiring Diagram from ClassicCarWiring.com

On lunch I went home and took out 3 of the 4 bench seat screws. The last one is fighting me.

Tonight, provided I get time, I'm going to go to drive into town and up to Menards and see if they have the TBolt/Bits needed for the seatbelt bolts and some more PB Blaster.
Hopefully, get the seat pulled out and hopefully pull out the crappy, busted ass, living room carpet the last owner put in.
Inspect the cab floor for rust. Hopefully little to none.
measure the old carpet
order some black auto carpet to throw in till I go to paint it and decide what color the carpet will be.
Maybe order some spray deadender for the 1st layer of deadening.

Original seat coming out for new foam and vinyl. 42 years of wear and one crappy cover. Anybody want the Carhardt cover?
That was a 1 year only seat pattern, btw. I saw that pattern in an old GM brochure and really wanted to do that for our '86. The old scanned pic of the ad looked like the 3 large vertical stripes on each side were actually sewn in with different vinyl. Had no idea it was a print.
I tried hard to talk my seat guy into doing it and he basically refused (or said he'd charge me double and wouldn't guarantee it holding up).
Sorry, this is probably no interest to you, but just a gmsb coincidence I suppose.

Morning session:

Glued down the floor liner and set the mat down. I won't make the mat permanent yet.Temporarily installed the rear speakers.

Wow, man! Looking good. You're not wasting any time getting down to business on that thing!
Up close, that paint job looks like it would sand and buff out beautiful. Didn't realize it's metallic. It's single stage I presume?

Well, the afternoon session didn't go so good. Noticed a leak at the tstat housing. I'll address it later. Started to replace the passenger side window and vent weather strip, and found the roller wheels on the regulator were stuck. Ordered a new set of regulators. Went to remove the ported vacuum switch from the old tstat housing and dropped it. Of course it broke. Ordered a new one. Decided it was time to call it quits for the day.
On a lighter note, the Fed Ex driver and the UPS driver who delivered parts later on are both SB lovers. I'm sure some deliveries were late this afternoon. They wanted to see everything I've done and everything that's left to do.

Installed my new lights from RMS Lighting last night. Super nice stuff, they look great and seem to be high quality. Drove it home last night and I definitely need to do a little adjusting (my highs are pointed at the ground basically) but overall I'm happy. Much brighter and a much further throw with these and didn't get flashed once.

Those look a lot better than most LEDs I've seen, which remind me of magnified fly eyes.

Are they plug and play with the stock wiring?

Agreed, I wanted the OE look but modern light (I put LED or HID in everything I own). They're 100% plug and play, tops plug right into the OE harness and the bottoms have an adaptor harness in between but it's included.

Worked on running new speaker wire to the rear speakers. Installed a new battery tray. Installed new springs in the ash tray. Tried installing the dash molding but the holes didn't line up and the molding was bigger than the cavity it goes in. Used a drill bit to line up the holes, and took the molding to my small belt sander. Fit good after that.

That original material and pattern is Great ! I hope you have it Upholstered with the original design.
No, its just plain blue vinyl. Heavy, thick, padded blue. My truck is not perfect, with rust in door jams and other places. A cheap driver is all I'm after. I try to use it as a truck, to carry engines and make runs to dump.

went to change front shocks. Top bolt won't come out. I guess the insert rusted to the bolt. Got PB on it and will let sit for a few hours. That don't work, torch time.....then Sawzall as a last measure.

Guess I found another part to put anti-seize on.

Morning session: Installed the dash pad and of course it wouldn't fit. Had to trim quite a bit off with the razor knife. after that it went in fine. Finished running the speaker wires up to the radio location. Installed the floor mat and trim. Installed the shifter boot and TC shifter base. Boot should be here today. Installed the battery mat, clamp assembly, and will install the wiring and military terminals soon. Does anyone know where to buy new seat belt protectors like the cracked one's in the pictures?
