hi, i have a 1987 gmc r1500 with the 5.7 2wd. i am wanting to lower it but not slammed. i plan on running 17''x9 on the front ant 17''x11 in the rear. it is going to have a semi low profile tire on it nothing paper thin but enough to fill the wheel wells. i figured a 4/6 drop would be good???? and is there any way i can buy a complete bolt on kit? i dont have any way of welding stuff together and dont wanna try. any help would be appreciated.

Yes sir, a 4/6 would be perfect. The kit you need will consist of 2.5in or 3in drop spindles, 2in drop springs or cut one round of the bottom of stock springs, a rear axle flip bracket, shock extenders or drop shocks, bolt in c-notch(optional), 2in drop shackles, new u-bolts. You wont need to do any welding but you will need to do some cutting and drilling. Try summit racing for a Western Chassis, Belltech, or McGaughy lowering kits.

Thanks. I have found a few different kits. But some have more parts some have less. Not sure which one to go with. I put a 454 4bolt main in it last week. So the added weight made the front end sag. Will a lowering kit with new shocks/springs help much?

i have been looking at a lot of threads about lowering 4/6. but how hard is it to do air baggs on a 87 gmc r1500 2wd? i really like the look and ive heard it is a much nicer ride. if i did do baggs i would want to lay frame. i have 18x9's on the front and 18x11's on the rear.
