Trying to Identify this bumper.

Picked this bumper up a while back, and I would like to find out if it's a factory piece or a repop. Haven't really thought about selling it, but if it came up, I'd like to have an idea of how much to ask. The story I got when I bought it, was that it had never been installed. There aren't any witness marks, so I tend to believe it. Just a lot of dust from sitting around.

The only other thing I know about it, is that the license plate light assemblies I had to get from classic parts, because the style lmc offered only fit their bumpers, and were different from these.

Looks pretty universal to me. I just put a very similar looking one on and it was.

I just had the factory front bumper down to take some picks of it, and this bumper is significantly heavier than that was.

That one has the same style license lamps that the other repop bumpers I've seen have. The bumper I have the openings are larger and centered in their locations. And it has the outer holes for the factory brackets.

That's a factory bumper. The aftermarket bumpers don't ever have the bolt holes for the outer support brackets.

Looks like a high dollar unit if you ask me. NOS stuff just keeps going up.

looks like I need to polish it up and keep it nice then. Everything I had heard made me think it was factory, but I just had a hard time believing I had stumbled across one that had never been installed.

That looks like the OEM bumper to me. The step plate (flat steel & painted silver) and corner supports make me think so. Does it has silicone at the edge of the diamond plate? I recall factory bumpers having this. Most aftermarket bumpers have the black step and the step plate is curved at the leading edge.

By the construction I would say OEM. If it were mine, I'd clean it up, put a spray wax on it and decide from there to keep or sell.

I had that very same bumper on my 86 GMC Sierra Classic. I would call it an OEM piece.

Trucks were shipped w/o rear bumpers and mirrors, that was the task of the dealer's "new car get ready team". The bumper may have not been installed on some service truck because of a lift gate or other type of bumper that was used.

Many auto dealers have these extra parts just hanging around.

Well as its a pop pop bumper keep it around till your like 70 and then bitch about not installing it 30 years ago...
