See the duct tape, yes.
Are the proper clippys to re-attach that trim to the bed listed here? How is it done?

Is that what I want AND is there something better 40 years later?

You probably just need new clips that are style 'E'. The rest of them are just square plastic pads that have double sided tape on them. Just clean off the old tape and apply new.

Fair warning though, that really old tape is going to need a nice sharp razor blade to scrape it off.

I also have always found it odd that GM was taping trim onto bodysides clear back in '73. That's modern stuff.

When I was detailing cars and needed to remove emblems with the double sided tape. A new razor blade and some bug remover or mineral spirits worked well to soften the tape. I would rub the razor blade up and down the thigh of my jeans(like a barber does his straight razor on a leather strap) to remove any burr the blade might have to help not dig into the paint. It takes practice. Good luck.

Here's some plastic blades that will work if you get the tape soft enough they work pretty well and won't scratch your paint as easy as the metal ones do.

All of those clips are necessary for install. If you look at the symbol next to the letter, it shows you where on the diagram they go. Here's a larger image. If this is not large enough, here's the link too.

All the plastic pieces are more than likely still on the trim where they belong, but the double-sided tape has turned to dust and let go.

There's also a chance that the steel sping clips are still there too and just need clipped back in. But they do rust and break.

Go to a real auto body supply shop. Like where they mix and sell paint. Mine has all of that stuff
