Transmission question?

My sm465 will likely go out in the next 1 to 2 year and I'm wondering if I should get the 465 rebuilt or get a new nv4500. My k10 is a daily but will be wheeled quite a bit. I have a 350 ABC. Thoughts?

Keep the 465. Best truck tranny.

The 465 is almost indestructible with the revised 3rd gear kit.Super strong.Lower geared obviously.

The 4500 is really good to and a lot of hardcore wheelers use it.That hwy gear is nice.Makes daily driving better experience with less engine noise.The lower rpms will make for increased longevity.

The expenses of the swap can get pretty high though.

Probably a good idea to look in all the cost associated and your truck’s downtime to see if it’s viable.It Will take some time to get your money back,but the drivability may mean more than all that.

I say go for it if you have the ability to drive another vehicle.If mine was a daily driver I would do it or something else to help out,like gear vendors.

Both transmissions you ask about are good. Tremec now builds a 6 speed manual as well. Rumor has it the tremor tranny is the new holy grail.
